McMansions Are So 2002 By Manila Chan
Remember when we were all counting down (worried) about Y2K?
Ha! Laughable, looking back now, right?
Now that I have you reminiscing about the early-2000s, do you also recall the big "McMansion" boom - where tracts on the outskirts of every suburb had these GIANT houses, boasting with 3,000+ sq ft of living space on 3,00 and 1 sq ft of land? They had GIANT walk-in closets for everyone, including your dog. They offered grand kitchens that had more granite than the entire state of Vermont could mine. |

Remember: You and your agent are on the same team. They need your help to get this done. Follow these simple rules and you'll get your home sold quickly and for the most money.
Selling Secret #10: Pricing it right Find out
what your home is worth, then shave 15 to 20 percent off the price.
You’ll be stampeded by buyers with multiple bids — even in the worst
markets — and they’ll bid up the price over what it’s worth. It takes
real courage and most sellers just don’t want to risk it, but it’s the
single best strategy to sell a home in today’s market. |

It May be Time to Think About Buying a House. If you can qualify for a mortgage, now might be the buying chance of your lifetime.
Five or 10 years from now, when the financial crisis
has ended and housing prices are up smartly once more, we will look in
the rearview mirror and realize that we missed a golden age for
first-time home buyers. Then, everyone who sat on their down payment
savings accounts for a few years too long will kick themselves for not
taking advantage of what may turn out to be the buying opportunity of a
lifetime for those who can qualify for a mortgage. |

A $10 Million House Isn't What It Used to Be
Sunset Boulevard—
Head west on Sunset Boulevard from downtown. Before
your engine is even warm you'll spy the Paradise Motel on your left. The
frayed hostel slumps as a weary refuge for those even wearier, a last
stop for the down-trodden before spiraling in a free-fall from grace.
Motor another 20 minutes along this iconic stretch of pavement, past the
once glorious Sunset Strip and the pink-and-green Beverly Hills Hotel,
and you come upon paradise: a necklace of verdant, walled and gated
estates, jewels along streets bearing European names like Bellagio and
Copa De Oro, literally Cup of Gold. |
